Xbox Community Network - Xbox Community Network (XCN) Central Web Site - Acceptable Use Policy
The following document is the XCNCentral Web Site acceptable use policy, which as a member you agree to abide by. If you repeatedly break the guidelines in this policy you will be banned from the XCNCentral web site and may be removed from the XCN. If you do not understand any of the following guidelines please get in contact with the XCN admin team at xcn@digital-outlook.com.
Please ensure you have read and understood the XCN Data Usage Statement, the XCN Terms and Conditions of Use and the XCN Code of Conduct. As a member of XCN you are bound to comply with these documents. The XCNCentral web site rules are as follows:
- Be civil. Anyone being abusive, calling names or generally trying to cause trouble will not be tolerated. Do not be rude to other XCN members or the XCN admin team, post offensive comments about other XCN sites, or attempt to discredit other XCN sites. If you are repeatedly abusive you will be banned from these forums and removed from the XCN;
- If you have a complaint to make about anything in the XCNCentral web site or want to raise an issue regarding another XCN site or member, please send an email to XCN Admin Team so we can deal with it. Do not post your complaint publicly on XCNCentral;
- Feel free to use XCNCentral to let other XCN members know what is happening on your site or share your hot exclusive, but please do not spam the forum with links to your site. If you want to share links with other XCN members, please think carefully about what will be useful to them;
- Please be patient when asking questions to the XCN Admin team, and please understand that we cannot answer all of your questions. Sometimes we simply don't know and will try our best to find out for you, and sometimes some things are confidential and we just can't say anything about them;
- Please report any issues, concerns or problems to the XCN Admin Team, who will act as Moderators and Administrators on XCNCentral;
- Do not use excessive capital letters. Please do not post threads in capitals, or have titles of posts in capital letters;
- Do not try to provoke anyone into a fight or encourage abusive arguments;
- Do not commit personal attacks; you may criticize an idea but not people on the web site forum;
- Do not post commercial information or flood the forum with useless content;
- Please take notice of the pinned posts at the top of the forum. Pinned posts contain important information and exciting things that are happening within the XCN;
- Do not discuss any topic that could violate the Terms Of Use Including any threads or posts regarding modifying the way your Xbox operates. This includes 'modding' and/or 'chipping' your Xbox or otherwise altering the way it is intended to operate;
- Do not knowingly post misinformation, lies or false facts;
- Above all, be polite, show interest in the opinions of others, make friends and have a great time!
USE OF MICROSOFT COMMUNICATION SERVICES
The XCNCentral Web Site may contain bulletin board services, chat areas, news groups, forums, communities, personal web pages, calendars, and/or other message or communication facilities designed to enable you to communicate with the public at large or with a group (collectively, "Communication Services"). You agree to use the Communication Services only to post, send and receive messages and material that are proper and related to the particular Communication Service. By way of example, and not as a limitation, you agree that when using a Communication Service, you will not:
- Defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others.
- Publish, post, upload, distribute or disseminate any inappropriate, profane, defamatory, infringing, obscene, indecent or unlawful topic, name, material or information.
- Publish, post, upload, distribute or disseminate any topic, name, material or information that incites discrimination, hate or violence towards one person or a group because of their belonging to a race, a religion or a nation, or that insults the victims of crimes against humanity by contesting the existence of those crimes.
- Upload or otherwise make available files that contain images, photos, software or other material protected by intellectual property laws (or by rights of privacy of publicity) unless you own or control the rights thereto or have received all necessary consents.
- Upload files that contain viruses, corrupted files, or any other similar software or programs that may damage the operation of another's computer.
- Use any material or information, including images or photographs, which is made available through the XCNCentral Web Site in any manner that infringes any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other proprietary right of any party.
- Advertise or offer to sell or buy any goods or services for any business purpose, unless such Communication Service specifically allows such messages.
- Conduct or forward surveys, contests, pyramid schemes or chain letters.
- Download any file posted by another user of a Communication Service that you know, or reasonably should know, cannot be legally distributed in such manner.
- Falsify or delete any author attributions, legal or other proper notices or proprietary designations or labels of the origin or source of software or other material contained in a file that is uploaded.
- Restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying the Communication Services.
- Violate any code of conduct or other guidelines which may be applicable for any particular Communication Service.
- Harvest or otherwise collect information about others, including e-mail addresses, without their consent.
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
- Create a false identity for the purpose of misleading others.
Your use of the Communication Services is also subject to the XCN Code of Conduct.
Microsoft has no obligation to monitor the Communication Services. However, Microsoft reserves the right to review materials posted to a Communication Service and to remove any materials in its sole discretion. Microsoft reserves the right to terminate your access to any or all of the Communication Services at any time without notice for any reason whatsoever.
Microsoft reserves the right at all times to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, or to edit, refuse to post or to remove any information or materials, in whole or in part, in Microsoft's sole discretion.
Always use caution when giving out any personally identifying information about yourself or your children in any Communication Service. Microsoft does not control or endorse the content, messages or information found in any Communication Service and, therefore, Microsoft specifically disclaims any liability with regard to the Communication Services and any actions resulting from your participation in any Communication Service. Managers and hosts are not authorized Microsoft spokespersons, and their views do not necessarily reflect those of Microsoft.
Materials uploaded to a Communication Service may be subject to posted limitations on usage, reproduction and/or dissemination, and you are responsible for adhering to such limitations if you download the materials.
